Bio

Alicia Falcone, known in the art world as Shōgo, is a multi-disciplinary artist who beautifully intertwines traditional Asian techniques with contemporary aesthetics. Her diverse portfolio includes paintings on canvas and textiles, dyed using antique Japanese methods, as well as Korean embroidery, Indian Kantha stitching, sculpture and air-dry ceramics. Through her work, Alicia explores the richness of cultural heritage from Asia and Midwest while making it relevant to today’s audience.

Originally from Argentina, Alicia's artistic journey began when she transitioned from a successful career in law to pursue her passion for art. This transformative experience led her to Singapore, where she immersed herself in the vibrant local culture and artistic community for seven years. Now residing in West Palm Beach Florida and Columbus Ohio, she has expanded her creative pursuits to include Feng Shui consulting and interior decorating, often transforming rare finds into unique art pieces.

Alicia's work is characterized by a harmonious balance of Zen simplicity and modern design. Her paintings frequently feature prominent Chinese characters, serving as focal points that reflect her deep respect for Eastern traditions. Through playful brush strokes, she personalizes these characters, incorporating imagery such as meditation figures to enrich the thematic depth of her art. A recurring motif is the use of red paint, symbolizing the rich cultural history of China and adding emotional resonance to her pieces.

What truly distinguishes Alicia is her innovative approach to materials. She embraces sustainability by repurposing recycled and reclaimed objects—ranging from aluminum foil to tissue paper—transforming them into captivating abstract art. This commitment not only breathes new life into discarded items but also invites viewers to reflect on their relationship with art and the environment.
