In our previous blog, we were presenting textiles indigo “Shibori,” the exquisite Japanese technique of dyeing fabrics. Today we are going to refer to indigo.
“Indigo is a deep and rich color close to the color wheel blue (a primary color in the RGB color space), as well as to some variants of ultramarine. It is traditionally regarded as a color in the visible spectrum, as well as one of the seven colors of the rainbow: the color between violet and blue.
The color indigo is named after the indigo dye derived from the plant Indigofera tinctoria and related species.”
When I was in Singapore last month, the first place that I wanted to visit was Arab street, a very traditional part of the city. It's a place crowded with textiles shops where I found a Japanese indigo cotton fabric. It’s a rich indigo cotton that inspires me to make a new collection of accent pillows.
To the pillows, I added an appliqué done with natural duck fabric and printed one by one with rubber stamps handmade carved, by myself, using a very deep dark blue color ink. So, each pillow is unique, truly one of the kind, pieces of art that will make a statement in any home decor.
This is our new accent pillows indigo collection.
